Lockhart started her acting career in the early years. Her first role came to her at the age of four when she appeared in T is for Tumbleweed. The role was eventually given to Jaime Lee Curtis. Carpenter says he was interested in her but she declined. Anne doesn't recall ever approached with the name of John Carpenter nor being offered the position. Her agent could have rejected the role on her behalf and with no knowledge. Glen Larson, who had provided her with the first draft script of a part in the tv show Battlestar Galactica from 1978, first chose her. The role was initially rejected because the character was not that strong. Glen was later able to write a character for her which starred the strong character Sheba. The Living Legend was accepted after she read the first 25 pages of the script. The show lasted for just one season. The actress co-starred on Joyride with Desi Arnaz Jr., Melanie Griffith (the daughter of Desi Arnaz Jr. and Lucille Bell), Robert Carradine and Melanie Griffith in 1977 and in The Dark Tower with Michael Moriarty (1987).
